Called To Serve

So, General Conference was this last weekend (Easter!) and during the Sunday afternoon session, I felt like I needed to write down all the goals that I had for me and my family. At the time, I paid no attention to what I was writing down, but later, I noticed that almost everything on that list had to do with service.
My work revolves so much on the needs of other people, and making them feel important and loved. I mainly work with the elderly and middle aged people, and college students on the weekends, but I don't get to work with kids that often. For the last week, the thought of wanting to help kids...even just one, won't leave my head. So, today I got online and looked up "Big Brothers Big Sisters" and sent them an email to see how I could help. Getting the response back from the director was thrilling! Once I finally move out there, I can make a difference, spending quality time with a single child, and help her know that she is loved :) I couldn't be more excited! I obviously don't have kids of my own, but seeing how parents these days just let their kids run wild and not spend time with them kills me. Hopefully I can get Kevin involved too! He's going to be such a great father, and I think he will be such a good influence for a little boy somewhere! Well, just thought I'd write a little something today! 25 days til the big move and 121 days til the wedding! Can't wait!! xoxox

Congrats to Ashley and Zac!

Congradulations to my beautiful cousin Ashley and new cousin Zac for getting married today in the Draper Temple! I wish I could be there to see you start your new life together! I love you guys!

Here's a fun pic to bring back memories of the old days with my big sis :)

Almost Done!

Only 8 weeks til graduation and my big move back home! I couldn't be more excited! I'm so ready to be back with my family and my wonderful husband-to-be! We're almost done with all the wedding plans, and let me tell you, I couldn't be happier! It's been fun, but such a headache at the same time! Only 142 days to go! haha but who's counting? ;)
Today has been a long day! Ashley came over to help me throw out a bunch of stuff I've been keeping in my basement, for who knows why??? And we figured out what to do for the invitations! She's definately the creative one! I'm really going to miss her when I move... not only is she my identical twin, but my best friend and other half. We've never been apart longer than a week, so I don't know how I'm going to handle being 1500 miles across the country, knowing it might be a while before I get to see her in person again. She's someone who can make me mad one second, and have me rolling in laughter the next! Not many people can do that like she can :) I hope I can convince her to move to Utah eventually! I definately want my kids to have their Aunt Ashley around!
Well, I've got to get back to babysitting! More to come eventually :)

My Best Friend

So, I decided to start a blog. And as I was sitting here trying to think about what to write about, all I could think of was to write about my best friend, and soon to be husband (Aug 7th, 2010!!). He truly is such a blessing in my life and I'm so grateful that I get the oppourtunity to spend time and all eternity with him. He's been my greatest support in everything I do, and truly is my better half! I don't know what I would do without him!

Kevin and I started our relationship on July 26, 2004, when we were both only 16 years old. We broke up about 6 months later, just because we were so young, and decided to go our own ways. We figured if it was meant to be, we'd find our way back to each other in the future. I went to school at Indiana University, and Kevin served his mission for 2 years in Utah, my home state.

5 years had passed since we had seen each other, and quite frankly, I never thought I would ever see him again. One day, while I was working in Bloomington Hospital ER, I walked by one of our patient room and saw a girl that looked to be about 16 years old. She looked so familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on where I knew her from. She had the same look on her face, so I figured I'd check out our computer and see who she was. Little did I know, it was Kevin's little sister! I finally got the courage to go talk to her, expecting her to not remember me, since she was 11 the last time I saw her. But she did! I went and talked to her and her parents, and found out that Kevin was coming home from his mission in 2 months.

4 months passed, and on one of my days of Facebook stalking people, a message popped up, and it was Kevin! We arranged to meet up the day before he left to move back to Utah for school (Oct 27, 2009). Needless to say, my stomach was in knots the whole day!! I wondered what he looked like, hoped that he would like me, etc...all the thoughts that goes through someone's head when they are meeting up with an old friend. I pulled up to his house, and thought my stomach was going to fly away! I knocked on the door, and almost fell to the ground when he opened the door... he looked amazing. Everything I had felt for him 5 years prior came flooding back. We went out on our date....and that was that! We knew that night that this was it! And I couldn't be any happier!!

We got engaged January 2, 2010... the most wonderful day! Wedding planning has been fun, but the stress of budgeting has slowly crept up on us! But I know it will all be worth it! Well, I'm at work...guess I should get back to my duties :/...more to come soon!
